The No Deposit Bet
A Short Story

His friends call him Wager, his real name is Roger. His pastor calls him by his real name.

Roger is a retired, self made millionaire. He became rich by counting cards in blackjack. He used to play in Las Vegas and Reno. He is now conservative, in all he does.

Roger does things out of the ordinary, from time to time. Just last week, while talking to his neighbor about online gambling, Roger decides he wants to find a way to have some fun and beat the casino.


The Adventure Begins

It was a Saturday night and Roger begins his fun time online at a well known casino. He signed up at this casino a few days back and checks his balance to see if his no deposit credit has been issued. He logs on and sees that indeed he has his $25 credit.

Roger takes 15 minutes out of his schedule to read the terms and conditions of the no deposit offer. His goal is to make some money. He uses Notepad, in his computer software, to write down the main conditions of the bonus. He notes: The required amount of bets to be placed, the games allowed, and the fact that this casino, luckily, does not require a deposit after meeting the playthrough, to cash out.

Roger begins his fun time on slot games that count 100% toward his bonus wagering requirements. He gets lucky and does well on slots.


A Winner

Roger stops betting his credits, as soon as his playthrough requirements are met. He goes to the bank and cashes out.

Roger knows that he has conquered the online casino by using the no deposit offer as his main resource. He has no desire to gamble but may claim another no deposit offer in another month or so, because winning seems easy to do.

He knows that his desire to do whatever it takes to win is what currently makes him a career winner at online gambling. He tells his neighbor the good news and is proud that he never had to make a deposit to win money.

Later that night, Roger tells himself that winning money is really easy to do and comits to gambling online, without bonuses, to avoid the heavy terms and conditions required to cash out. What he doesn't know is that he just comitted himself to losing because the only real way to win is to focus on minimizing deposits and continue to not trust the online casino software for fair gaming odds.
